Business Analyst 

 

The Business Analyst is responsible for working with clients to understand their current and emerging business issues, along with developing application requirements used by technical team members to design, create and deploy business solutions.  The Business Analyst also serves as a primary facilitator and driver of business improvement opportunities with our clients.  

Role Summary:

The Business Analyst is a member of the development team and handles a variety of roles ranging from requirements gathering, process improvement, test case development and end user training.  The means by which the Business Analyst defines application or system requirements varies but will usually take the form of conducting one-on-one interviews, group interviews or workshops, facilitated sessions and review of existing process and system flow.  They would also work with clients on process improvement initiatives.  Additionally, the role may require the individual serve as a tester and trainer for the application or system that the project team develops and implements.

Primary Tasks:

  • Thoroughly understand the business and the issues to be solved
  • Document clearly the requirements for the solution
  • Assist in the management of client expectations
  • Assist in the development of the company through proposal preparation
  • Work with clients to support or lead process improvement initiatives

 Secondary Tasks:

  • Develop test cases used in system and integration testing
  • Conduct testing and clearly document testing results
  • Develop training materials and conduct client training on the new application of system

 Required Skills and Experience:

  • Knowledge and experience with requirements gathering techniques including Joint Application Development (JAD), One-on-One Interviews, Use Case development
  • Ability to communicate effectively with different levels of management, as well as both the business and technical communities
  • Excellent verbal/written communication and presentation abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to be productive independently and/or as a team member
  • 4 years experience in business and a Masters in Business Administration preferred
  • Consulting experience in deploying software is a plus
  • Professional image and demeanor with the ability to present oneself in a consultative, confident manner
  • Possesses an entrepreneurial nature with the capability to understand multiple facets of a business environment along with an interest in contributing to Oakwood Systems Group, Inc.
  • Exceptionally strong organizational, interpersonal and analytical skills
  • Exposure to or knowledge of OO Tools/Technologies:
    • Front-end:   ASP.NET, ASP, JSP, HTML, XML, 3rd Party (i.e. Broadvision)
    • Middleware:  COM/DCOM, Websphere, Webmethods, MQseries
    • Database:  SQL Server, Oracle, Informix, DB2
    • Languages:  VB.NET, C#, C++, Java
    • Tools:  MS Office, MS Project, Rational Rose (or similar), Source Safe, Erwin
    • Testing Tools:  Rational, Mercury Interactive, Seagate
    • Diverse exposure to industries, solutions (i.e. eBusiness, DW, CRM, etc.) and platforms a plus
  • Open to the potential for travel
