Margaret Johnson to Speak at February St. Louis Business Marketing Association (BMA) Event

Oakwood Systems Group’s Director of Marketing, Margaret Johnson, is presenting at the upcoming St. Louis Business Marketing Association (BMA) event scheduled for February 7, 2008.  Johnson will speak on the topic of “Extending Marketing Reach through Portal Technology”.

“Many organizations implement portals – like SharePoint or WebSphere – for internal collaboration and the distribution of common documents.  These internal portals are typically owned by IT, while Marketing owns the corporate website.  By implementing a portal solution that is owned by Marketing, companies can realize a greater return on their investment while simplifying the completion of marketing initiatives, enforcing consistent branding, and providing a framework for true customer-centric marketing efforts.  The beauty of a portal, though, is that it can take on different personalities depending on who is accessing it – be they internal users or external prospects and customers.”

Johnson has been working in the technology industry for 25 years, and has been focused on creating business value from technology initiatives – or, as she puts it, “connecting the dots between business and what technology can do to enable greater business success.”  In her role as Director of Marketing for Oakwood, she has worked with a number of organizations on defining portal initiatives from a marketing perspective.
