International Construction Company Took Too Long to Log in

Business Challenge:

When 6500 users take ten to fifteen minutes to log in and start work every morning, productivity is affected.  Users would power on their systems, go get a cup of coffee, visit with colleagues, and return to their desk in the hope that they could finally start working.  The users were unanimous in their dissatisfaction, and voiced their displeasure to people at all levels of the organization.  Something needed to be done!

Solution:

As experts in desktop deployment, Oakwood was called in to review the client login process, and immediately discovered several areas where improvements could be made.  Oakwood consultants removed unncessary items being processed through Group Policy, corrected issues with subnets in Active Directory sites, and cleared out unnecessary login items in Desktop Authority.

Benefits:

As a result. the organization's workstations experienced a great improvement in login times, with reductions by more than half of the previous login durations.  The user community is pleased with the results.  Productivity for all 6500 workers has increased, and the company's help desk technicians have experienced a significant reduction in calls related to the login process.
