The development team at a large hospitality/entertainment organization was faced with the challenge of how to build a mobile version of their website while leveraging as much of their existing code base for their public-facing website as possible. The new mobile site needed to be optimized to render on the most popular mobile phone web browsers, in order to provide a common mobile experience to prospective guests.
Oakwood provided consulting on how to leverage the existing platform and source code and extend it to the mobile website development effort. Oakwood resources provided training on the technical differences between optimizing websites for mobile browsers versus desktop browsers.
Partnering with Oakwood for consulting on the project before beginning to code the mobile website helped to chart the path to success prior to engaging in development tasks. The client emerged from the consulting engagement with a clear path and an understanding of the technical differences between mobile websites and a traditional website. As a result, the client is able to continue to develop the mobile website, using best practices, on its own without needing additional outside help.
