An Impressive List
The list above doesn’t give you a good overall picture of how influential Microsoft is compared with its competitors in the cloud. Keep in mind… Microsoft has a large variety of products and services. They are generally well integrated and provide significant additional value when deployed together. For instance, almost all Microsoft products leverage Active Directory – provided by Windows Server or now from Microsoft Azure.
Microsoft is a leader in more “cloud” Magic Quadrants than all three of the other providers combined. And, Oakwood focuses on delivering solutions that leverage Microsoft’s products and services almost exclusively, and is a Gold Certified Partner for Microsoft – providing solutions that leverage ALL of the above products and services except for CRM… matching our own depth of expertise with the breadth of Microsoft's products and services.
News and Events
With recent headlines declaring Microsoft as a cloud leader and positioning Microsoft to eventually surpass Amazon AWS, more and more customers are realizing the value of fully integrated, comprehensive solutions that leverage Microsoft’s products and services. Here is a few worth noting:
Microsoft maintains the largest portfolio of cloud certification and regularly continues to add more.
Microsoft has made a 180 degree turn from their old business practices of shouldering out the competition. CEO Satya Nadella strategically decided to integrate with some of Microsoft’s longest-term rivals such as Salesforce, Google Android, Apple iPhone, Rackspace and more. And, it’s working. Microsoft has continued to close the distance between Amazon’s AWS revenue and their own Azure service every year.
Price Waterhouse Cooper Report
Microsoft is one of only six companies on both the lists of the Fastest Growing Cloud companies and Top 50 Cloud Providers lists. Note that none of the above competitors appear in the list:
Gartner recently positioned Microsoft Azure in the Leaders Quadrant in the 2016 Magic Quadrant for Cloud Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) based on its completeness of vision and ability to execute in the IaaS market.
Microsoft’s IaaS, PaaS and SaaS solutions for enterprises are all recognized in leader’s quadrants by Gartner and provide a unique position to customers looking to leverage the scale, value, and flexibility of the cloud without having to learn new platforms and skills.
The native integration and hybrid functionality built into so many of Microsoft’s products gives IT departments a much easier lift when moving workloads to the cloud. And Oakwood’s expert consultants support our customers with experience developed across hundreds of cloud projects and almost every Microsoft product and service. We are a cloud leader!
Cloud Leader Benefits
Innovation – services must represent an enhancement over the status quo of providing services on-premises.
Value – customers must be able to justify the total cost of ownership (TCO) for hosting and owning infrastructure vs. subscribing to cloud services.
Customer Support – when IT services move to the cloud; customer support largely becomes the customer’s experience with the cloud vendor and its partners. As the technical capabilities of the service become more substantial and advanced the support providers become even more important.
