If you have both Operations Manager and Service Manager in your environment it can be very useful to set up both the Configuration Item (CI) and the Alert Connector. As a result, the CI connector will help build your CMDB, and the Alert Connector will sync your OpsMan alerts to Service Manager, creating incidents for your service desk to work from.
Whats The Purpose?
Setting both of these connectors up within the Service Manager console is a simple, straightforward task. However, it’s all too common to see that alert connector fail to sync once created. As a result, you won’t know why you’ll just keep looking at it saying to yourself that it looks right.
It’s a common mistake to forget that another step to setting up the Alert Connector is to configure a subscription for the connector inside the OpsMan console. It’s not difficult.
In the OpsMan console, on the Administration Pane, click on Internal Connectors nested under Product Connectors. As a result, you will see an Alert Sync object with the name of your connector. Right-click on it and select properties, then click Add to set up your subscription.
Wait a few minutes, and check the status of the Alert Connector in the Service Manager console again.
